Don is a Project Engineer ll and has been with the Ambient Monitoring group in the Billings office of Bison since 1999. He has been providing technical services to industrial and governmental clients for over 37 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from Montana Tech. His project assignments commonly include ambient air and meteorological data collection, quality assurance, processing and reporting. He performs quality assurance audits, calibrations and maintenance on a variety of ambient monitoring systems, including PM10, PM2.5, SO2, and meteorological installations. Don also performs audits, calibrations, and maintenance on continuous emissions monitoring systems. He has experience in siting, installation, and maintenance of remote meteorological and ambient air data collection systems, performs sample filter weighing activities for industrial and tribal particulate monitoring networks and purchases ambient particulate gravimetric analysis equipment and supplies. He facilitates and evaluates quality assurance activities for balances, standard weights, and gravimetric lab environmental control equipment. Don prepares reports that present and analyze air and water quality data. He conducts emission testing, assists with reports, and performs Method 30B mercury analysis.

Don’s previous experience includes similar ambient monitoring services as outlined above, petroleum spill remediation, underground storage tank (UST) remediation, design of froundwater monitoring wells and sampling, analysis and reporting of groundwater data, indoor air monitoring and sampling, global positioning satellite field survey data collection for county emergency 911 map databases, and warrantee evaluation and repairs on electronic GPS equipment.

Don is certified in the following:  40 Hr. Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response, Visible Emissions Evaluator for Method 9, Basic Medic First Aid with CPR, and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) training.

In his free time, Don enjoys bicycling, art, antiques and antique restoration, archery, and shooting black powder and antique firearms.
