Kellen joined Bison in 2015. He has a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Beloit College and is an environmental scientist in the Helena office. Kellen has 10 years of experience as a source tester and environmental chemist.

As a project manager for the consulting team, Kellen provides air permitting and compliance support for a variety of industries to complete challenging air quality projects and reduce emissions. He prepares permit applications such as pre-construction, Title V operating permits, and registrations for a variety of industries.

He works with clients to ensure they are operating in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations by performing complex technical work including managing air permit and regulatory compliance, recordkeeping, periodic air emissions and compliance reporting, etc. He identifies, assesses, and controls environmental risks for new and existing facilities and infrastructure. He assists in planning for changes to facilities, reviewing new or modified equipment and new manufacturing programs to meet regulatory and company requirements. He monitors and analyzes developing trends and changes in regulatory compliance laws, rules, and regulations.

He also prepares compliance audits and certification reports, control technology analyses, and operation and maintenance plans.

Kellen has experience conducting air emissions testing in accordance with EPA methods for both engineering and compliance purposes for a variety of clients. He has extensive experience and knowledge operating Boiler MACT compliance testing, Title V compliance testing, JJJJ and ZZZZ testing, and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), which is used to obtain an infrared spectrum of absorption or emission of a solid, liquid or gas. He is one of Bison’s lead FTIR operators. Kellen also performs equipment maintenance/repair, protocol/report production, project scheduling, and opacity observations.

Kellen is certified in the following: 40 Hr. Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response, Visible Emissions Evaluator for Method 9, Basic Medic First Aid with CPR, and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) trained.
