Emma joined Bison in 2021 as an Environmental Scientist in the consulting services group in Helena. She has more than 10 years of regulatory compliance experience with focuses in permitting, compliance and safety regulation. Emma has a Bachelor of Science degree in Aquatic Biology from Bemidji State University in Minnesota.

Emma assists with a variety of projects including permitting of major sources, minor sources and permits to construct (NOC), compliance assistance, reporting, and compliance audits. Beyond air quality, she also has extensive experience with water permitting, regulation, and compliance including National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Industrial Storm Water (ISW), Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), and Construction Storm Water (CSW). Emma provides safety expertise for industry as an Accredited Safety Professional (ASP) through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) and is COSS (Certified Occupational Safety Specialist) certified.

Previously, Emma was an employed as an Environmental Health and Safety Manager for an ethanol manufacturing plant in MN for just over four years. She managed all environmental compliance and permitting (including air, water, and waste) along with gaining extensive safety knowledge and experience. Prior to that she spent five years gaining diverse water quality regulatory, permitting, and compliance experience as an NPDES permit writer with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) and MPDES permit writer with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

Emma is certified in the following: ASP certification, COSS certification, 40-hour HAZWOPER, HAZMAT, OSHA 30, OSHA 10, MN Class E Wastewater Operator, DOT and RCRA, Construction Site Management Certification, First Aid with CPR/AED.

Outside of work, Emma spends most of her time chasing her daughter around the house saying “don’t eat that,” but also enjoys trivia and socializing with friends around a bonfire.
